The incubator provides approximately 20 hours of required programming each week. Sessions take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The curriculum consists of a series of week-long design sprints. As part of the Summer Research Program, participants also have access to leadership seminars, professional skill-building, optional social outings, and other campus resources. Sessions take place in The Basement. On acceptance into the program, teams are also granted access to Basement facilities and mentorship. Please note that this program serves as a dedicated bridge between spring and fall quarter opportunities. No projects funds are awarded.
The summer incubator program is open to all UC San Diego undergraduates in good academic standing. You must be planning to enroll in credit-bearing coursework in fall 2019.
Applicants should have an idea for a startup business or product as a focus for research and testing over the course of the program. Please note that applicants are admitted individually. Multiple members of a team may apply.
Participants are required to attend orientation on June 24 and the Summer Research Conference on (TBA).
Accepted participants are awarded $2,500 toward off-campus housing and living expenses for the 8-week program. Direct deposit is required and payments are coordinated through Financial Aid.
