Who’s the speaker?
Eric Tarczynski, Managing Partner of Contrary Capital Eric was previously an early employee at a Y Combinator backed startup, Kamcord, and tried to start two businesses of his own while a student at Northeastern University. Following his early ventures with entrepreneurship, Eric decided to start a venture capital fund that exclusively invests in university-level startups. Eric spent the 2016-2017 school year testing this model across various universities, and has since raised his first fund size of $7M.
What is Contrary Capital?
Contrary Capital is a decentralized Venture Capital seed-fund focused on empowering the next-generation of university-based entrepreneurs.Contrary works with a team of 100 student investors across the 55 universities, making investments between $50,000 and $200,000 in student startups. The fund is backed by prominent LPs, most of which have started $1B+ companies such as Tesla, Twitch and SoFi. Portfolio companies include UCSD’s Additive Rocket Corporation.
