This is the first installment of a two-part Kickstarter series. Attendees are encouraged to go to the first part of the series prior to the second, but previous attendance is not necessary!

Kickstarter offers designers, makers, and engineers a unique opportunity to connect with an audience and raise funds to bring projects to life.

In this 2-part workshop, we’ll hear from Clarissa Redwine, Kickstarter's Design and Technology Outreach Lead for the West Coast, about the world renowned design and technology innovations launched on Kickstarter and best practices for building a community around your creative project. We'll also explore the core steps involved in planning, building, and managing a Kickstarter campaign. This is an interactive workshop for creators looking to walk away with the strong framework of their own stellar Kickstarter campaign. 

Clarissa's Bio:
Clarissa Redwine is Kickstarter's Design & Technology Outreach Lead for the west coast. She travels up and down the coast in search of innovators, creators, and makers who can leverage the powerful community and storytelling tool of Kickstarter to bring creative projects to life. Before joining Kickstarter, Clarissa cofounded a nonprofit with the core mission of fostering the North Texas startup community and worked with 10 promising robotics startups as the Program Manager of the Qualcomm Accelerator, powered by Techstars.

The Basement is proud to present a new program called Pitch Perfect! You are invited to a pitch workshop based on CO-STAR, an innovation tool designed to help you perfect and pitch your brilliant idea, and was developed by UC San Diego alum Laszo Gyroffy '85. This new program will be an amazing opportunity for young entrepreneurs to hone their pitching skills to better represent themselves and their great ideas. If you're looking to perfect your pitch for an upcoming competition or just hoping to gain a little insight, stop by on Tuesday, April 11th!

About the Speaker:

Laszlo Gyorffy is President of the Enterprise Development Group in Palo Alto, California — an international consulting and training firm that specializes in innovation strategy and best practices, organization design, and leadership development.

For over 20 years Laszlo has worked with organizations to ‘expand the possible,’ helping them reinvent themselves in the face of disruption and competition. He has applied his business strategy, innovation, change leadership, and training expertise in countries around the world and across a variety of industries. His client list includes pioneering organizations such as the BBC, Discovery Communications, EDF Energy, Egmont International, Homeland Security, Hewlett Packard, Kaiser Permanente, Novellus, Panasonic, Panera Bread, Phillips, Saulsbury Industries, Stanford University, Swisscom, Swiss Post, and Universal Music Group.

Laszlo co-authored Creating Value with CO-STAR: An Innovation Tool for Perfecting and Pitching your Brilliant Idea, as well chapters on Leading Innovation in the Global Innovation Science Handbook.

From virtual reality software to 3D printed rocket parts, last year 16 innovative student teams demoed innovative product concepts at Triton Entrepreneur Night. The top five teams pitched their business ideas and netted a combined $47,000 in cash and non-cash prizes, and one team took home an Audience Choice Award.  Join us for even bigger exhibits and live demonstrations, team pitches and networking with entrepreneurial-minded alumni, many of whom had started, or backed, startup companies.  REGISTER HERE
