About the Speakers:

Allison Pettine Long ’04

Allison Long Pettine is a Founding Partner of Seed San Diego , which is making an impact on San Diego's investment landscape. Allison was previously the President of Crescent Ridge Partners, a venture fund that provides seed capital to early stage startups.  She actively invests in entrepreneurs developing disruptive technologies across all multiple to build successful and sustainable companies. Prior to founding Crescent Ridge Partners, Allison was Vice President at Viscogliosi Brothers, a New-York based venture capital company focused on cutting-edge orthopedic medical device technologies.  She was previously part of the founding team and Director of Corporate Finance and Strategic Planning at Paradigm Spine, a startup that developed non-fusion spinal implants to treat degenerative and deformity spinal disorders.  Allison holds a B.S; B.A, Management Science; Psychology from UC San Diego and an M.B.A from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Ann Crady Weiss ’93

Ann is a venture partner at True Ventures and is focused on early stage investments. She has deep experience as an entrepreneur, having founded and run two companies, both funded by True. Her experience is in early stage consumer internet, mobile, and IOT companies. Her passion is working with early stage entrepreneurs who have a clear vision and quiet confidence. Ann is the CEO and co-founder of Hatch Baby, which is bringing new parenthood into the IOT age. They are creating a series of smart products and services designed to make the transition to new parenthood easier. Ann previously founded Maya's Mom, a social networking site acquired by Johnson & Johnson. She was an executive in the Search and Marketplace division of Yahoo! and also served as the SVP of Consumer Experience for BabyCenter. Ann received a BA from University of California, San Diego and a JD, cum laude, from Georgetown Law Center.

Kim Folsom

Kim Folsom is a high-tech executive and serial entrepreneur who has been founding, leading and growing innovative companies for more than 25 years. She is the founder of LIFT Development Enterprises, Inc. and co-founder and CEO of Founders First Capital Partners, LLC, a small business growth accelerator and revenue-based venture fund focused on helping underserved, employer-based small businesses secure funding and achieve exponential growth. As a social entrepreneur, Ms. Folsom is dedicated to leveraging the power of market forces and sound business practices to address disparities in revenue and job growth among businesses led by underrepresented founders. She has raised more than $30 million in institutional venture financing, and has founded or served as a key executive for multiple successful ventures, including ShowUhow (acquired by Sellpoints), DriveCam (now Lytx) and Seminarsource. Before devoting her energies to entrepreneurship, Ms. Folsom was an executive at National Dispatch Center, Luce Forward and Alltel Systematics and Great American First. As part of her mission to help entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses, Ms. Folsom teaches entrepreneurship and business strategy at National University's School of Business Management. She earned her M.B.A. from the Pepperdine University and Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems with a Minor in Economics from San Diego State University.

Greg Horowitt '80

Co-Founder, Managing Director, T2 Venture Capital

Greg Horowitt is the cofounder and Managing Director of T2 Venture Creation and has spent 25+ years working in startups and venture capital. He is the co-author of the bestselling book, The Rainforest: The Secret to Building the Next Silicon Valley and has consulted on innovation with top organizations like the Aspen Institute, National Academies of Science, World Bank, and US Department of State. He worked under Warren Buffett as an executive at a Berkshire Hathaway operating company, is a Kauffman Fellow, and has been a founder, investor, and board member in many leading organizations.
