Christopher Keown ‘18 | UC San Diego PhD, Cognitive Science
Chris Keown has worn many hats in his life from web developer to graduate student to entrepreneur. In 2015, he and his best friend created and founded a chain of escape rooms, which are still going strong. In 2018, Chris founded AxeVentures, an axe throwing venue with locations in North Park, Oceanside, Berkeley and Nashville. He is now partly focused on growing AxeVentures to additional cities. Chris also recently completed his PhD in Cognitive Science at UCSD where he did computational research in genomics. Based on his experiences (and frustrations) doing research, Chris is now focused on creating a startup to make scientific research more efficient and effective. The hope is that by changing the way scientists communicate, we can reduce the time needed to make key insights into diseases like cancer, diabetes and autism.
